Barley is one of the world's earliest cultivated grains, appearing in traditional diets across the globe. Romans fed their gladietors barley, which some attributed to their strenght calling the gladiators hordearii, or barley-men.
Our barley is cultivated at the fooths of the Alps in Northern Italy.
Fontana Formiello Barley can be cooked in soups and stews. It is perfect for grain salads and pilaf, or as a substitute for rice in curries, stir fries and risottos.
